Alfred on Melrose - LA
Alfred, in the short time of its existence, has quickly become one of the most, if not the most, known LA third wave coffee shops.
They now have four locations but Melrose is the original and is nothing short of wonderful.
They have a good amount of space to plop down - several small tables on the patio and along the sidewalk, a welcoming table and some stools upping entering and another bar and stool set up down stairs alongside the coffee bar.
They brew Stumptown Coffee, recently bought by Peet's Coffee, and do a good job at serving it. But I can't help but wonder if they will opt to serve local LA or Southern Californian roasters in their shops soon. It would be pretty neat to see such an LA staple to serve some of, well, their own.
But for now, their design and marketing seems to know exactly what they are doing.
